Assessments
Autism, ADHD and cognitive assessments
If you are trying to work out whether an assessment would help, this page explains what we assess, who carries it out, and what the process involves.
What we assess
Autism assessment
An autism assessment looks closely at social communication, sensory experiences, routines and interests, and how these show up at home, at school or at work. It draws on interviews, standardised measures and, where relevant, information from people who know you or your child well. It suits children, teenagers and adults who want a clearer understanding of how they experience the world.
ADHD assessment
An ADHD assessment looks at attention, activity levels, impulsivity, organisation and how these affect daily life across different settings. It usually involves interviews, questionnaires completed by more than one person, and a review of developmental and school or work history. It is available for children, teenagers and adults.
Cognitive and learning assessment
A cognitive and learning assessment looks at thinking skills such as reasoning, memory, processing speed and attention, alongside reading, writing and mathematics where that is relevant. It helps make sense of learning difficulties or uneven progress at school. It suits children and teenagers, and adults who want to understand their learning profile.
Who does the assessment
Assessments at The Moore Centre are carried out by:
- Dr Cynthia Turner
- Greta Haycock
- The practice's provisional psychologists, who deliver assessments under supervision as they are not yet fully registered.
When you enquire, we will let you know which clinician is available for the assessment you are asking about.
What happens, in order
- You send an enquiry telling us what you are hoping to understand.
- We have an initial conversation to work out the scope of the assessment.
- The assessment sessions take place.
- You receive a written report, followed by a feedback session to talk it through.
Fees
Assessment fees vary with the complexity of the assessment, so they are discussed with the clinician at enquiry rather than listed here. You can see our session fees for therapy on the fees page.
